Bruce’s blog tipped me off to culturegraph.com, which is a fun mashup of pop culture, nostalgia, and the wonderful world of pie charts, graphs, and calendar. I’ve made two graphs for and have plans for more. 
I love blimps. I don’t know why but I have a fascination with them. When I was in seminary in Richmond, VA the Goodyear Blimp would occasionally come for the NASCAR race. Any time I happen to catch a glimpse of it I’d be fascinated and couldn’t stop watching it. Which is kind of silly if you think about it. Blimps don’t really do anything, they just float lazily across the sky. Actually, that sounds like a pretty good gig if you can get it.
My wife got me a coffee table book about the history of zeppelins. I’ve actually read most of it and found it pretty interesting. In WW, zeppelins did a lot of bombing runs in Europe, and a zeppelins routinely made trans-Atlantic flights long before an Lindbergh.
So I like blimps/zeppelins. Which added to my enjoyment of this story. This is the first thing that I have seen/read on the internet that made me laugh out loud (quite a bit), since the video below.
